Spring having sprung and cabin fever being, well just let me say, cabin fever. I imagine you much like I find ourselves picking up lawn debris in our landscape beds, and notice the deck needs a good power washing. There are all manner of dirt and stubborn stains scattered about our wood deck the electric blower simply cannot blow off. The push broom has absolutely no effect on the ground in dirt, mold and mildew. That leaves us with only one viable option for getting our deck clean. We must get busy spring cleaning requires power washing the deck removing mold and mildew while saving water.

Now when it comes to getting our hands on a good power washer, we do have a few options open to us, do we rent, hire, or buy a power washer. The thing is, most rental centers only rent or hire a couple different size pressure washers, big gas powered pressure washers and bigger gas powered pressure washers.

Have you ever tried to get one of these machines on the buss or train, or maybe in the back of your smart car or SUV, it is a pain in the butt I can tell you.

You can forget about getting a power washer delivered to your place, if the rental center will make deliveries it will cost as much as the thing rents for, I think that is their way of telling us they really do not want to fool with the delivery.

Any way that is the way, it seams to me. To first, pay $50 in rental or hire fees, plus an additional $40 or $50 to get the thing delivered. Shoot that is $100 I can buy an electric power washer online for just a few bucks more. Better still, I can get it delivered to my door, all for around $150 to $200 and have, it on hand any time I need to clean my deck, patio, or front stoop.

The best electric power washer

Homeowners and renters like you and I, just want to get the deck really clean, which usually means getting rid of any mold and mildew lurking between the deck boards, and the stubborn dirt on the surface.

The best choice for us is an electric power washer or pressure washer if you will. That way we can easily power wash our wood deck, brick pavers and concrete steps when we need to without the worry of stale gas, gas cans and starting one of those noisy gas powered machines.

The best electric power washer features   

● 1500 – 2000 PSI will provide all the cleaning power we will need to clean our wood deck, patio, and front steps. The PSI or pounds per square inch are how much force a power washer uses to blast the dirt loose from the surface we are cleaning.

● 1.5 – 2 GPM means how many gallons of water per minute a power washer uses to wash the dirt away, after the PSI has blasted the dirt away from the surface we are cleaning.

Here is a little tip to make it easier to understand; cleaning units tells us how effective one power washer is when compeered to another.

CU equals, the PSI multiplied by the GPM, say 2000psi × 2gpm equals 4000 cleaning units. Compare that to your garden hose at a staggering 40psi and 7gpm which equals, 280 cleaning units is a lot less cleaning power that uses more than twice the water per minute of cleaning time spent washing a wood deck.

Look at it another way, lets take the 2000psi power washer that uses 2gpm, say it takes us one hour to clean our deck. There is sixty minutes in an hour right, multiply 60 × 2gpm and we come up with 120 gallons   of water used to clean the deck using the power washer. Now let us compare that to what a garden hose will use in the same sixty minutes of use. 60 minutes × 7gpm equals 420 gallons of water used to clean a deck.

Electric power washer uses 70% less water to clean a deck than a garden hose. I think we all agree, saving water is a good thing.

Adjustable spray nozzles are  easily set to zero degrees, which is a narrow stream of concentrated cleaning power. The zero degree cleaning nozzle is quite good for cleaning stubborn dirt and stains off hard surfaces.

On the other end of the adjustable nozzle’s range of adjustability, the useful 40 degree wide fan shaped pattern, this 40 degree nozzle is great for light duty cleaning tasks. The low pressure water spray makes cleaning dust and light dirt from our patio and lawn furniture easy when getting ready for our next backyard gathering or barbecue party.
